The best GEO apps for Shopify in 2026 — an honest comparison

The Shopify App Store now has dozens of apps promising “AI visibility”. Most are thin wrappers around the same three tricks (llms.txt, a schema tag, a sitemap). This comparison covers the apps that do real work, judged on one question: does it change whether an AI assistant recommends your products?

Full disclosure: we make Preferd, one of the apps below. We've kept the comparison factual — pricing and review counts are as of mid-2026 and change often, so verify on each listing before deciding. Where a competitor is genuinely strong, we say so.

What to actually evaluate in a GEO app

The apps, honestly

IndexGPT is the most established GEO-native app and earns its reviews: prompt tracking (which prompts mention your store) and sentiment analysis are genuinely useful monitoring features. Its traffic insights lean on connecting your GA4. Where it's lighter is the fixing side — monitoring tells you where you stand; you still need to close the data-quality gaps it reveals.

StoreSEO and Avada come from the classic SEO world with AEO features layered on. If you need image-SEO, meta-tag hygiene and technical audits, they're proven — the review counts reflect years of solid SEO work. Just be clear about what you're buying: SEO and GEO optimize different surfaces, and neither app centers on what assistants say about individual products.

Vizby takes the autonomous route — agents that optimize without your involvement. Attractive if you want zero touch; evaluate how transparent and reversible the automated edits are before handing over a live catalog.

Preferd (ours) is built around the fix-and-prove loop: a deterministic 0–100 AI-readiness score per product across nine signals, one-click AI enrichment you review before applying (with snapshots and 30-day revert), before/after lift on every change, answer-engine visibility checks with competitor share-of-voice, and first-party AI traffic attribution in revenue terms. The free plan audits 50 products and includes trial enrichments, so you can see the loop work before paying.

Bottom line

If you mainly want monitoring, IndexGPT is a fair pick. If you mainly need classic SEO, StoreSEO or Avada. If you want the loop that changes the answers — audit, fix, prove — that's the job Preferd was built for, and the audit costs nothing to try.
